One of my close relative recently encountered a tingling itch on her lip. She had seen my blog on “Remedies for Cold Sores” before and sought my advice.
I advised her to apply ice on the tingling or cold sore areas around her lip. She did that accordingly. As that day was a Sunday, she could apply ice the whole day on the said areas. The sores looked subdued and she was very happy. But the next day is a working day. It is not convenient for her to get ice in the office and apply on the cold sore areas. Anyway it is not a good sight for other people to see you applying ice to your lip the whole day. Nevertheless, she managed to sneak out some ice from the office refrigerator during lunch time and applied it on the cold sore areas for which last about an hour.
She went home after office hours. She found that the cold sore areas were not improving. She applied ice on the areas till the time she sleep. On non working days, Saturday and Sunday, she tried to apply ice on the cold sore areas whenever she finds the opportunity to do so. This routine continues for two weeks.
After two weeks, her cold sold sores get much better and dried up. At the time of writing this post, she has fully recovered from the cold sore attack.
She is quite happy with the ice treatment as her cold sores were under control throughout the two-week infection period. The sores did not breakout and go full blown as what she had experienced in previous cases. The only complaint she has, was the time taken to heal the cold sores was too long. She would be happier if there is a remedy which could shorten the length of cold sore infection period.
